Keep the AK's reliability. Lose the 1950s ergonomics.
The AK runs in any condition, but the factory furniture is short, slick and hard to mount optics on. FAB Defense makes drop-in parts that fix that without a gunsmith. Here's what we'd look at, and one thing to check before you order.
Check Your Receiver First
Many AK stocks are made for stamped receivers (AKM, AK-74 and most modern AKs) and won't fit milled ones. Every product page lists exact fit, so read it before you buy.
1. Stocks: Folding or Collapsible
- UAS-AKP: a slim folding stock with an adjustable cheek piece, a rubber butt pad and trigger access when folded. Best for: a scoped AK that also needs to fit in a bag.
- RBT-K47 FK: an 8-position collapsible stock that bolts onto stamped receivers. Best for: adjustable length of pull.
- SBT-K47 FK: the same 8 positions plus a built-in shock absorber. Best for: softer recoil.
- M4 Folding Stock for AKMS: replaces the under-folder with a side-folding joint and an M4-style collapsible stock. Best for: AKMS owners.
2. A Grip You Can Actually Hold
The AGR-47 adds a multi-textured rubber overmold, finger grooves, an extended beavertail and a sealed storage compartment. For a more upright wrist, the GRADUS comes in an AK version too.
3. Handguard and Optics
- Vanguard AK: a slim M-LOK handguard with an extra heat shield, so your support hand stays comfortable on long strings.
- PDC-AK: a billet aluminum dust cover with 185 mm of Picatinny rail for optics. Your original iron sights stay usable.
- Running a Krinkov? The AKS-74U quad rail drops in with four Picatinny rails.
4. Magazines
The ULTIMAG AK 30R holds 30 rounds of 7.62x39 with round-count indicators from 10 to 30 and tool-free disassembly. It ships to US addresses only and isn't sold to California.
5. Bipod at the Grip
The AK Podium is a bipod inside an AGR-47 grip. It weighs 7.6 oz and adds no front-end weight.
